COIHUES
HOUSE
The Coihues House stands as a haven of serenity and purpose in the heart of the majestic forests of Argentine Patagonia, just a few meters from the tranquil waters of Lake Gutiérrez. This project, conceived as a work in intimate harmony with its natural surroundings, embraces the duality of being both a space to live in and a space to create.
LOCATION
Bariloche, Argentina
Designed with an architectural sensitivity that engages in dialogue with the power of the surrounding landscape, the house is organized into three carefully defined sections, each responding to distinct yet complementary needs.
The first section, with a more public character, houses a space dedicated to professional work. It is designed to enable its occupant to carry out their tasks with the focus and inspiration that only such a privileged setting can provide. The large openings in this area allow natural light to flood every corner, connecting the professional with the environment as they work.
The second section, conceived as a semi-private area, offers flexibility and versatility. This space, intended for daytime and mixed use, invites interaction or introspection depending on the mood of the moment, becoming the dynamic heart of the home. Here, the textures of local materials interact with the warmth of natural light, creating a welcoming and functional atmosphere.
Finally, the third section, intimate and secluded, is reserved for purely residential use. This private refuge is designed for rest and disconnection—a place where the inhabitant can find calm after a day of activity or reflection. The clean lines and thoughtful details of this space evoke a sense of peace, perfectly harmonizing with the surrounding natural environment.
The Coihues House not only meets the requirements of its function but also celebrates the balance between the human and the natural. More than just a residence, it is a testament to our studio's commitment to creating spaces that transform and enrich the living experience, connecting people with the landscape and with themselves.
