UTN
UNIVERSITY
The city proposed the creation of a new "technology hub" to focus the growth of companies in the sector within the area, thus fostering urban development and increasing the value of the land in that zone.
LOCATION
Buenos Aires, Argentina
This initiative is accompanied by other major projects, such as the new headquarters of Banco Ciudad, designed by the architectural group led by Foster. This building will serve as the city government's new headquarters, alongside a private technical university, ITBA, and a public university, UTN.
The new UTN campus project was guided by the principle of being a public building, dedicating more than 75% of its usable space to public access. This design encourages the community to use the space, visit the university, and gain insight into how it operates. The ultimate goal is to inspire people to pursue careers in this field, which is currently in high demand in the country.
The design prioritizes public access from Av. Caseros, where the Line H subway station is located, and from the adjacent square, which has also been slated for restoration and enhancement. Beneath the square, a parking facility connects to the university, addressing mobility needs.
The project received an honorable mention in the ArtUrbain competition, an international contest organized in France that focuses on public space as the heart of urban renewal.
Subsequently, the city’s Director of Urban Planning, Lic., recognized the project as being of public interest, highlighting it as an inspiration for other young professionals.
